A first Test of unlikely batting records fizzled out into a draw. Earlier India amassed 457 on the second day of the opening Test against England at TrentBridge. The tourists' huge total was made possible by a last-wicket stand of 111 runs from 38.1 overs between Mohammad Shami (51 not out) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (58), after being reduced to 346 for 9 at one stage.

Both registered their maiden Test fifties en route to a century partnership, which incidentally is India's second highest stand for the last wicket.

More statistical highlights of the fifth and final day of the opening Test between India and England in Nottingham on Sunday night.

# Bhuneshwar Kumar became the first No 9 batsman to record a fifty in each innings (58 and 63 not out) besides dismissing five wickets (5/82) in an innings in a Test match.

# Kumar became the fourth Indian all-rounder to record a fifty in each innings apart from claiming five wickets in an innings in the same Test match - the first three were Vinoo Mankad, Polly Umrigar and Rusi Surti.

# Australia's Peter Siddle was the first No 9 batsman to register a fifty in each innings of a Test match against India - 51 and 50 - at Delhi in March 2013.

# Number nine to eleven batsmen have amassed 325 runs (ave.54.16) in the 2014 Trent Bridge Test - the second highest tally in a Test match - the highest being 329 in England-West Indies Test at The Oval in 1966.

# Stuart Binny's splendid 78 off 114 balls is the second highest by number eight batsman for India on Test debut. Deepak Shodhan had posted 110 in the first innings vs Pakistan at Kolkata in 1952-53.

# Binny's match aggregate of 79 (1 and 78) is the third highest by India's number eight batsman on Test debut. Deepak Shodhan's 110 (110 and DNB) against Pakistan at Eden Gardens, Kolkata in 1952-53 and Gopinath's 92 (50 not out + 42) vs England at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai in 1951-52 are the leading run-scorers as number eight batsmen on debut for India.

# Binny and Kumar were involved in a stand of 91 -- India's highest eighth wicket partnership against England at Trent Bridge in 1982.

# India's total of 391 for nine wickets declared is their second highest in the second innings of the Trent Bridge Test behind the 424 for eight wickets declared in 2002.

# James Anderson has received his second Man of the Match award against India - his sixth in Tests. He has got four Man of the Match awards at Trent Bridge.

# Anderson has equalled Fred Truman's tally. Both share a record for capturing most Test wickets in England - 229 wickets each.

# The 2014 Nottingham Test is the third drawn game between the two countries. The previous ten Tests had produced results at this venue. The last drawn Test at this venue was played between India and England in 2002.
