Cricket coaching web site launched

A cricket coaching web site to enable budding cricketers learn the finer points of the game was launched in Mumbai on Friday.

"Cricketforindia.com is a site for all cricket lovers. It is a guide to assist you in all aspects of the game and provides on-line cricket coaching and expert advice to all. from beginners to aspiring stars," former India Test batsman and head of the experts' panel of the web site Ashok Mankad said at the launch.

"A cricket fan can also view coaching videos and a wide range of interesting sections covering junior cricket and women's cricket right up to the Tests and One-day Internationals along with scores, statistics, biographies, history and laws of the game," he added.

Mankad said that apart from the above facilities, the web site will also host quizzes, trivia and a photo gallery "with remarkable and memorable photos".

Others on the expert panel are former India skipper Polly Umrigar, ex-Test player Yujvinder Singh, coach S P Bhatia and one of India's best umpires umpire Piloo Reporter.

Ritika Hiranandani, Director of cricketforindia.com said, "It's a sincere effort to get cricket coaching accessible online. It is definitely targeted at the youth and provides extensive details and techniques about the game, imparted by our expert panel of legendary cricketers."

Prominent personalities, including former India captain Sunil Gavaskar, former Test star Bappu Nadkarni, Board of Control for Cricket in India joint-secretary Prof Ratnakar Shetty, who was the chief guest at the launch, and India vice-captain Rahul Dravid have endorsed the web site.
