Navjot Singh Sidhu, former India cricketer and Lok Sabha Member of Parliament, asked newsmen to be patient with the new coach Greg Chappell and give him time to bring results.
Talking to rediff.com outside the parliament complex Sidhu said that if there is a competent guru then he can make his disciple competent but there would be no hope if the things were other way round.
"He is a great cricketer who has been around for more then three decades. He knows his job and one should give time," he said.
He praised dashing opening batsman Virendra Shewag and said that players like him go through a bad patch.
"But my dear friend that cricketer is a match winner and the day he gets going he will the match on his own," he said.
Sidhu is taking advantage of the weekend break of the parliament is heading for Sri Lanka so that he could do a few television programmes from there for NDTV.
"Bhai mujhe roti ka bhi to parbandh karna hai (I have to take care of my livelihood too)," he added.
