Australia speedster Shaun Tait has been ruled out of all forms of the game for the next two months after undergoing surgery on his right elbow.

Tait underwent arthroscopic surgery in Melbourne following long-standing right elbow problems which worsened recently.

Cricket Australia doctor Trefor James said no precise time period can be put on Tait's return to cricket.

"Shaun Tait underwent corrective elbow surgery this afternoon for a chronic elbow complaint and his return to cricket will be determined by the speed of his recovery from surgery," James said.

"It is not anticipated he will be able to play within the next two months," he added.
