The leg-spinner will miss out on the upcoming Asia Cup and the World T20
International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday has banned Pakistan’s ace leg-spinner Yasir Shah from playing any forms of cricket for three months.
Yasir had tested positive for a prohibited substance in December. The 29-year-old player will be able to play again from March 27.
The leg-spinner will miss out on the ongoing Pakistan Super League, the upcoming Asia Cup and the World T20, and he could make his return for Pakistan only during the tour of England in June.
Shah, whose test was conducted on November 13 last year during the one-day series against England in the United Arab Emirates, later told an ICC panel that he had taken his wife’s medicine mistakenly which led to his positive dope test.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had also requested ICC to consider Yasir’s case with leniency.
Yasir is the world’s second quickest bowler to reach 50 wickets mark in Test cricket, and afterwards he was the fastest to cross 75 wickets landmark in cricket history.
