Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar and PepsiCo will jointly help Maharashtra government tackle the drought in Marathwada.
Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thurday held a meeting with Tendulkar in this regard.
"Delighted to meet Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar. He & Pepsi are putting together a plan for drought relief in Marathwada," Fadnavis tweeted.
Marathwada is one of the worst affected regions in the state where, as per the latest official figures, seven major dams in districts of Aurangabad, Parbhani, Beed, Nanded and Osmanabad are left with no water.
Taking stock of the drought situation in the state, the Bombay high court ordered shifting of all Indian Premier League matches scheduled in Maharashtra after April 30 to another state after a PIL was filed claiming that a substantial quantity of water was being used in maintaining the various cricket stadiums in the state.
