Steyn jumps to third in ICC rankings

South African Dale Steyn climbed to third in the LG International Cricket Council Test bowling rankings following his match-winning performances against New Zealand.

The 24-year-old fast bowler took 20 wickets in his team's 2-0 series win over New Zealand, moving up five spots to lie just behind team mate Makhaya Ntini in the rankings.

Australia fast bowler Brett Lee climbed to fifth place after taking 16 wickets in the 2-0 series win over Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka spinner Muttiah Muralitharan remained on top of the list.

South African Jacques Kallis is just one point behind the world's top-rated batsman, Australia captain Ricky Ponting, after rattling up two centuries against New Zealand.

Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara, who scored 57 and 192 in the second test against world champions Australia, moved up to third.
