Rain continued to prove a dampener as the third day's play between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka in the Elite Group 'A' Ranji Trophy match was abandoned without a ball being bowled on Sunday.

Heavy overnight rain and on and off showers since this morning left the outfield soggy and the two umpires, Jasbir Singh and M R Singh called off the day's play at 1400 hrs IST after two inspections.

Only 22.2 overs have been bowled in the past three days. Tamil Nadu scored 80 for no loss after they were put into bat on the opening day.
