Bengal restrict Punjab on Day 1

Bengal restricted favourites Punjab at 210 runs for seven on the first day of the Ranji Trophy Super division match at the Kanchenjungha Stadium in Siliguri on Saturday.

Punjab chose to bat first and the openers Ravageet and Karan Goyel made a sedate start of 78 runs.

Karan scored the highest 56 studded with 12 boundaries.

Skipper Pankaj Dharmani made a valuable contribution of 42 runs for the Punjab team. Other batsmen could not offer much resistance.

Bengal's Saurav Sarkar, Asok Dinda and Ranadev Bose got two wickets each.

Punjab was weakened by the absence of Team  India member, Yuvraj Singh, who left for Kolkata due to stomach ailment this afternoon without taking field.
