Orissa posted a crucial six-wicket victory over hosts and last year's runners-up Bengal on the third day of the Ranji Trophy Super League match at the Kanchenjungha Stadium in Siliguri on Tuesday.

With an overnight score of 83 for 3 in their second innings, Orissa needed only 51 runs on Tuesday for the win and they gathered the required runs in the morning session to bag five points.

The wicket of Rashmi Ranjan Parida (28) by Ashok Dinda (2/33) was the only success for Bengal on the final day.

Seamers called the shots throughout the match as the hosts' move to play on a green top backfired for them. On day one 20 wickets tumbled as Bengal were all out for a paltry 124 runs.

Orissa's story was no better as they were bundled out for 99.

In their second essay on Monday, the hosts managed 124 and set Orissa a target of 132 to win.

Orissa scored 82 runs losing three wickets and were in sight of a win when they started the run chase on Tuesday morning.
