Hyderabad gain first innings lead

Left-hander Anirudh Singh slammed a fine 95 to help Hyderabad gain a first innings lead of 82 runs as they reached 278 for six replying to Services score of 196, at stumps on the second day of the Ranji Tropy Elite Group B match in Hyderabad on Monday.

Singh was third time unlucky failing to convert his 95 into a century. He hit 78 against Andhra and 86 against Haryana.

Singh's 250-ball knock stretched 353 minutes and he hit 12 boundaries and two sixes before he was bowled by H Naidu.

Hyderabad, resuming at the overnight score of 43 for the loss, cantered to 133 for the loss of two wickets in 49 overs at lunch.

Opener Daniel Manohar was the only batsmen to be dismissed in the morning session after he fell leg before wicket to Yashpal Singh for 54.

Manohar added 56 runs in the company of Singh for the second wicket.

Captain V V S Laxman played a steady innings of 36, adding 83 runs for the third wicket with Singh, before he was leg before wicket to Fazil Mohammed.

Devishetty Vinay Kumar was unbeaten on 49 at the close of play on day two.

Medium pacer Mohammed was the most successful bowler for Services, claiming 3 for 82 in 34 overs.
