Batsmen put Andhra in command

December 19, 2007 19:58 IST

Unbeaten half-centuries by captain Connor Williams (75) and Rakesh Solanki (51) helped Baroda score 136 for two, in reply to Andhra Pradesh's mammoth 469 for nine declared on the penultimate day of the four-day Ranji Trophy Super League Group B match in Vishakhapatnam on Wednesday.

Though, Baroda received a jolt in the initial overs with opener S S Parab and A A Bilakhia returning to the pavillion for ducks, Wiliams and Solanki played steady knocks.

Resuming at overnight score of 434 for eight, Andhra added 35 runs to their total.

Captain MSK Prasad made a superb 121 not out which included ten boundaries and two sixers.

Rajesh Pawar claimed three wickets for 144 runs, while Sumit Singh and Hamid Ali took two wickets each.

Williams and Solanki were at the crease when the stumps were drawn.
