Octogenarian wife of former India cricket captain Gulabrai Ramchand committed suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of her building in Worli, in central Mumbai, on Friday, police sources said.
Leela Gulabrai Ramchand (80) was staying alone in the seventh floor apartment of 'Sportsfield', which houses some of the country's well-known Sportspersons.
It is still not clear why the aged lady ended her life, the sources said, adding preliminary investigations revealed that financial problems could be one of the reasons.
Gulabrai Ramchand, who passed away two years ago, led India to its first Test victory against Australia at Kanpur in 1959.
