Rain may ruin third ODI

The third and final one-day international between India and Bangladesh, to be played in Chittagong on Tuesday, looks set to be washed out.

It's been raining in the city since Monday morning, as a result of which the outfield at the Bir Shrestha Shahid Ruhul Amin stadium has taken a heaving beating. Given the current conditions, it is unlikely that there will be any play on Tuesday.

Unlike Dhaka, this stadium has no drainage facility and it is highly unlikely that the ground will dry up and be shipshape to stage the match.

In fact, with a cyclonic storm predicted to hit Chittagong and its surrounding areas on Tuesday, it looks like the teams may not even consider leaving their hotel rooms.

The local meteorological office has issued a Danger 7 warning, a high alert for cyclonic storms. People have been advised to stay indoors, as heavy rain, accompanied by strong winds, is expected to hit the city.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh media manager Rabeed Imam dismissed media reports that a few of the team's players are down with fever.

"Only Mohammad Ashraful is down with fever and is not available for tomorrow's match, that is if it happens. He is under observation in a hospital in Dhaka," he told rediff.com.

"Otherwise there is no danger of any other player missing the match," he added.

He said Farhad Reza had slight fever, but is feeling better and would take part in the match.
