Rain delays start of India-Ireland match

The start of the ICC World Twenty20 Group A match between India and Ireland has been delayed due to rain at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

The pitch and surrounding areas were immediately covered after it started raining at the end of the the first match between Sri Lanka and the West Indies, which the former won by 15 runs.

The match has been reduced to an 18-over-a-side affair and is scheduled to start at 1820 local time (1050 IST).

Players from both teams had a short warm-up session before retreating to the comforts of their dressing room once it started raining.

India opted to field the same team that played Bangladesh in their opening encounter.

Rohit Sharma will again open the batting with Gautam Gambhir, while Pragyan Ojha is the second spinner in the team to partner Harbhajan Singh
