Railways wicketkeeper Mahesh Rawat set a national record in List A matches as he pouched seven catches during his team's match against Madhya Pradesh in the Central Zone leg of the Vijay Hazare competition at the VCA Stadium in Jamtha on Thursday.
Railways dismissed MP for a paltry 48 and then won comfortably by nine wickets.
The 26-year-old Rawat, a former India 'A' player, took four catches off medium-pacer Shailender Gehlot's bowling while he got two more off Krishna Kant Upadhyay's bowling.
He eclipsed the national record when he got his seventh victim off Anureet Singh's bowling.
"The ball was seaming a lot. Both Shailender and Krishna Kant got appreciable movement and it was one such day when I didn't have any difficulty grabbing the chances that came my way. I came to know about the national record after the match.
"It feels good that my hard work is paying off really well," Rawat said.
For the record, only two wicketkeepers have taken more catches in a List A (50-overs) match than the Railways keeper.
Somerset's Derek Taylor and Worcestershire's James Pipe had taken eight catches in List A matches, while Boland wicketkeeper Steve Palframan had eight victims in a one-day match, which included three stumpings.
