Pranav Dhanawade, a school cricketer from Kalyan, on the outskirts of Mumbai, scripted history by becoming the first batsman to score more than 1,000 runs in an innings.

The 15-year-old reached the landmark off only 323 balls in a local schools' tournament.

His epic innings was laced with 59 towering sixes and 129 fours, and he offered the opposition just four chances en route.

Dhanawade was representing Smt. KC Gandhi School (Kalyan) against Arya Gurukul School in the HT Bhandari Cup inter-school cricket tournament, organised by the Mumbai Cricket Association.

He was unbeaten on 1,009 when his team declared their innings at 1,465 for three.

During the 396 minutes he was at the crease he faced 327 balls and hit 129 fours and 59 sixes.

He bettered the best-ever individual score in a single day when he went past Prithvi Shaw's 546 in the Harris Shield tournament in 2013-14.

Shaw, representing Rizvi Springfield, attained the milestone against St Francis D'Assisi, Borivali (Mumbai). During his 367 minutes at the wicket he faced 330 balls and hit 85 boundaries and five sixes.

Dhanawade's epic innings means he now holds the record for the highest individual score in any form of representative cricket, bettering AEJ Collins's 628 not out for Clark's House against North Town in Clifton College in 1899 in the UK.

The current bunch of young talent from Mumbai also includes the likes of Arman Jaffer and Sarfaraz Khan.

Sarfaraz had scored 439 in 2009, a record that was broken by Jaffer (498) in 2010, only to be surpassed by Shaw four years later.

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar also comes from the same Mumbai stable and his epic partnership of 664 runs with fellow-Mumbaikar Vinod Kambli is legendary stuff.
