Break will help us re-focus: Pollock

Winning captain Shaun Pollock feels the six-day break Mumbai Indians will enjoy post their comprehensive seven-wicket win over Indian Premier League table-toppers Rajasthan Royals will help in reinvigorating the team, though there is also the danger of losing some momentum.

"The gap is a bit dangerous, we may lose momentum. But it's also timely and will help us take a break from cricket, do some gym work and re-focus for the second half of the tournament," the former South African captain said after his team's resounding win at the D Y Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday night.

Pollock explained the reasons for fielding first after winning the toss:

"We had found during the tie against Deccan Chargers that the ball came on to the bat a bit better in the second half of the match. We had to chase a small total and could be conservative in our batting approach," he said.

Pollock also praised his young pace bowlers Dhawal Kulkarni and Rohan Raje for their fine bowling display, especially the former for coming back well after having been hit for 17 in his first over.

"They are learning the lessons well. I am happy with their performance," he said.

The ace all-rounder also expressed his happiness for the return to form after the long injury lay-off of India discard Ashish Nehra, who was adjudged Man of the Match.

"He has not played international cricket for 18 months or so and I am very happy for his return to form. It's good for the team," he added.

Nehra picked three for 13 in three overs and played a leading role in bowling out Rajasthan Royals for a paltry 103 in 16.2 overs.
