Abhishek Sharma smashed his way into the record books as he blasted a 37-ball century during the fifth T20 International against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.

Abhishek, 24, completed the landmark with a single off pacer Byrdon Carse in the 11th over. This is the second fastest century for India in T20 Internationals after Rohit Sharma's 35-ball hundred against Sri Lanka in Indore in 2017.

He smashed a brilliant 135 from 54 balls, to register the highest score by an Indian batter in T20 Internationals. He also broke the record for the most sixes by an Indian batter in T20 Internationals. with 13 sixes to go along with seven fours in a stunning exhibition of dazzling strokeplay.

Overall, this is the second fastest century by a batter from a full member nation after South Africa's David Miller had also hit a 35-ball ton, against Bangladesh in 2017.

The left-hander's entertaining century came at an incredible strike rate of 270.3 and included 10 sixes and five fours.

There was no stopping Abhishek, who had hammered his way to a fifty from just 17 balls -- the second fastest for India in T20 Internationals after his mentor Yuvraj Singh, who had smashed a 12-ball fifty against England at the T20 World Cup in 2007.

He brought up his fifty in thumping, hitting pacer Jamie Overton for back to back sixes in the fifth over.

The left-hander delighted the Mumbai fans as his entertaining fifty included five sixes and three fours.
