Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar met with the victorious Jammu and Kashmir cricketers at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on Thursday morning.
The team from the Valley created history on Wednesday when they upset 40-time Ranji Trophy champions Mumbai by four wickets in their opening match of domestic cricket's premier tournament.
According to J&K team media manager Shahana Fatima, the batting legend spent over an hour with the players and asked them to meet him at the stadium later.
"He congratulated the team for the victory and told them not to get carried away and continue the good work," Shahana said.
On Thursday, Tendulkar spoke with the Mumbai Ranji players at the request of their coach, Pravin Amre, to boost team morale following the defeat, but did not meet the J&K players who were celebrating after the victory.
The J&K team later departed for Chennai to play their second Group A Ranji game against Tamil Nadu at a new venue, Dindigul, 65 kms from the temple town of Madurai.
