The Supreme Court will hear a petition by the cricket associations of Rajasthan and Bihar and Netaji Cricket Club of Tamil Nadu, challenging the Kolkata high court order which stayed the appointment of two former Chief Justices as observers for the elections to the Board of Control for Cricket in India, on October 3.

A Bench, comprising Chief Justice R C Lahoti, Justice G P Mathur and Justice P K Balasubramaniam, declined to give the petitioners an early hearing as sought by them, and passed the order after the case was put up noted advocate Ram Jethmalani on behalf of the Rajasthan Cricket Association.
"It is only a fight of ego," the Bench observed.
The petitioners had sought a directive to hold the controversial elections before September 30.
It was argued that the order of the Kolkata high court was improper and most of the BCCI members present in Kolkata for the elections had no objection to the presence of the two additional observers.
