144 - Pietersen's innings is now the highest by any English captain on Indian soil.

45 - Number of Tests taken by Pietersen to aggregate 4,000 runs in Test cricket. He became third fastest Englishman after Herbert Sutcliffe (43), Len Hutton (44) and along with Jack Hobbs (45) to reach this landmark.

3 - Consecutive years in which Pietersen has aggregated 1,000 runs in a calendar year. He aggregated 1343 runs in the year 2006, 1007 in 2007 and now 1015 in 2008. Pietersen now joins Matthew Hayden, Brian Lara and Marcus Trescothick in scoring 1000 runs in three consecutive years.

2 - Number of English batsmen to score a duck soon after posting hundreds in both innings of a Test. Andrew Strauss now joins Marcus Trescothick to suffer this fate.
