New record for Kohli! Indian batsman with most T20 runs

When the Royal Challengers Bangalore captain got to 37 during his innings of 52, he became the Indian batsman with most runs in Twenty20 (International and domestic) cricket in a calendar year.

Virat Kohli established a new Indian record in Monday's Indian Premier League match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

When the Royal Challengers captain got to 37 during his innings of 52, he became the Indian batsman with most runs in Twenty20 (International and domestic) cricket in a calendar year.

He went past Suresh Raina's tally of 1042 runs in 2010.

With around eight months still remaining in the year, Kohli has the opportunity to make an appearance in the list of batsmen with most T20 runs in a calendar year.

The list is dominated by Chris Gayle, who holds the first four slots.
