Azharuddin's son Ayazuddin succumbs to injuries

Mohammad Ayazuddin, son of former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuiddin, has passed way on Friday.

The 19-year-old, a budding cricketer, breathed his last in Apollo Hospital this morning after fighting for his life for six days.

Ayaz was seriously injured in a motobike crash on Sunday last on the Outer Ring Road of Hyderabad and his condition was very critical since then.

This is a twin tragedy for Azhar's family as his sister's son Ajmal-ur-Rahman also died in the same accident.

The tragedy struck when young Ayaz lost control over his brand new imported 1000 cc Suzuki motor cycle while driving on Outer Ring Road in the outskirts of Hyderabad on Sunday and hit the divider.

While pillion rider Ajmal died on the spot, Ayaz was brought to Hospital with no pulse or heart beat. However doctors resuscitated him.

He had suffered extensive internal injuries including bleeding from lungs and one kidney. His liver, spleen and intestines were also damaged. The brain was also asphyxiated due to lack of oxygen supply for a long time, doctors said.

A team of experts tried to save him but could not succeed.

Young Ayaz was a promising cricketer in whom many saw the glimpse of Azharuddin and his stroke play. A fond father had gifted the Rs 13 lakh motor cycle on Id a fortnight ago.

Ayaz was Azhar's son from his first wife Naureen and she was completed devastated by the sudden turn of events. Naureen who lives in Dubai after her divorce, rushed to the city after the accident.

Azhar, a Congress member of parliament from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh was in London when the accident took place and rushed to Hyderabad immediately.

Ever since he was staying at the hospital and there was a stream of VIPs including the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, several MPs and other leaders and stars from the fields of sports and films.
