Marsh, Bichel named Cricket Australia selectors

November 10, 2011 15:33 IST

Rod Marsh and Andy Bichel have been appointed part-time selectors by Cricket Australia (CA), the country's cricket board said on Thursday.

Former wicketkeeper Marsh, 64, has played 96 Tests for Australia while 41-year old former paceman Bichel retired from first-class cricket in November 2007.

Pat Howard, CA General Manager team performance, said Marsh was a "legend of the game" and that he and Bichel would bring complementary skills to the selection table.

Marsh, who has also served as a selector for England, said he was looking forward to his new role.

"I'm excited to be back working for Cricket Australia. It's been a decade since I last worked for CA," Marsh was quoted as saying in a statement from CA.

"Certainly, the most rewarding time I ever had was working with CA at the Academy in Adelaide.

"This is an important role and I'm looking forward to watching young Australian cricketers develop, and to our established cricketers continuing to improve."
