Construction work on the USD 45-million ultra modern Brian Lara Cricket Complex has begun in South Trinidad, some 60 kms from the celebrated Queen's Park Oval.

The Complex will include state-of-the-art practice facilities as well as a top class playing field.

The project is slated to be completed in time for the World Cup in 2007. Pakistan, South Africa, Canada and Ireland will play warm-up matches there while India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bermuda are slated to play their matches at the Queen's Park Oval.

Chief Executive Officer of the Local Organising Committee Anand Daniel said he was confident that the Complex would be ready in time for the matches.

He also said that cricket fans in Trinidad and Tobago would have access to 40 per cent of the tickets for the matches.
