The One-Day International between  India and Pakistan scheduled to be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata will be held on January 3.

"The decision is more or less unanimous that the India versus Pakistan match will be held at the Eden Gardens on  January 3. After discussions with board as well as with police we found January 3 as an appropriate date. It's New Year time and ideal weather for ODI cricket," a senior Cricket Association of Bengal official said on Wednesday.

On the day, a three-member team from England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) along with BCCI's Chief Operations Officer Suru Nayak came on a security recee of the stadium for the Test match between India and England slated to be held from December 5-9.

The three-member team included Chief of Operations John Carr, security expert Reg Dickason and press officer Ian Smith who inspected the stadium and also had a meeting with senior police officers regarding the security arrangements.

"The England officials were very satisfied after doing a recee of the entire stadium. Since they had already played an ODI and a T20 last year after renovations were complete, they had a fair idea about the conditions," the official informed.
