Kohli deletes tweet welcoming Kumble as coach

June 22, 2017 19:02 IST

India captain Virat Kohli has maintained a stoic silence following Anil Kumble’s resignation form the post of Team India Head Coach.

But the Indian captain has now said a lot without even uttering a single word -- by deleting a tweet from 2016.

The tweet in question is one he posted on June 23, 2016, welcoming the then coach Anil Kumble.

"Heartiest welcome to @anilkumble1074 Sir. Look forward to your tenure with us. Great things in store for Indian Cricket with you,"

Virat Kohli's tweet

There is no trace of this tweet that's now been deleted from Kohli’s Twitter timeline.

This act reeks of immaturity if not arrogance.

Kumble on Tuesday stepped down from his position after a widely-speculated feud with captain Virat Kohli, marking a bitter end to a highly successful tenure.

In 17 Tests, Kumble saw India win a dozen, drawing four and losing just one against Australia.

India even retained the No 1 spot in Test ranking under Kumble's term.
