Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli has been fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining slow over rate during the team's Indian Premier League game against Rising Pune Supergiants.

Kohli and AB de Villiers smashed brisk half centuries to guide Royal Challengers Bangalore to a 13-run win over Rising Pune Supergiants, in Pune, on Friday night.

"Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has been fined after the team maintained a slow over rate during last evening's VIVO IPL match against Rising Pune Supergiants.

"Since it was his first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Kohli was fined Rs 12 lakh," the IPL said in a statement.

In the game last night, sent into bat, Royal Challengers Bangalore rode on De Villiers' 83 off 46 balls with the help of six boundaries and two sixes and Kohli's 80 off 63 deliveries, during which he struck seven fours and two hits over the fence, to post 185 for five.

Later, Royal Challengers Bangalore bowlers rose to the occasion and managed to restrict Pune to 172 for eight.
