Sent into bat, Chennai Super Kings were in for an early shock as left-arm spinner Ankit Sharma cleaned up Murali Vijay (2) with a peach of delivery in only the fifth ball of the innings.
New man Suresh Raina showed glimpses of his class with a 12-ball 16 with the help of three boundaries before perishing, caught by Daniel Christian of his own bowling.
Opener Fau du Plesis scored a quickfire 39 off 25 balls before being caught by Christian at long on off debutant TP Sudhindra's opening over.

Jadeja then took the task to the opposition and clobbered Ankit for a boundary and two sixes to pick up 18 runs in the 14th over.
But Chennai were dealt a massive blow in the next over in the form of skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (7), who hit one straight to Daniel Harris at mid-on off Dale Steyn bowling.
Jadeja, however, was in no mood to relent as the left-hander struck Christian for two consecutive fours in the 16th over. He then clobbered pacer TP Sudhindra for a massive six straight over the bowler's head in the next over.
Jadeja's quickfire innings came to an end in the 18th over bowled by Steyn when he was out hit wicket trying to clip the ball to short fine leg but his left toe touched the off stump and the bail came off.
Deccan bowlers came in for some harsh treatment from Bravo as CSK posted the highest total in the tournament so far.
