Rahane still offers best performance at least cost

Ajinkya Rahane of Rajasthan Royals continues to be the most valuable player (MVP) so far of IPL5. His all-round performance is equivalent to a score of 375 'runs'. He also costs his franchise owner just $51 for every run scored.

Keiron Pollard didn't do much on Sunday night, but his all-round performance (104 runs at a strike rate of about 140; 11 wickets at an economy rate below 6 and good catching) places him second on the list. He costs Mumbai Indians about $1000

for every 'run' contributed.

Generally speaking, an auctioned player offers 'outstanding' value if his paisa vasool index (PVI) is below 500 (*****); 'excellent' value if the PVI lies between 500-1000 (****), 'very good' value for a PVI between 1000-1500 (***) and 'good' value for a PVI between 1500-2000 (**).
