IPL, Modi and Power Games

April 22, 2010 18:36 IST

For Lalit Modi, the screws are tightening. Though he has lived to fight another day, the IPL czar is increasingly getting isolated in the BCCI's scheme of things.

The long arm of the law seems to be catching up with Modi. Media is abuzz with murky stories -- from his havelis to the alleged stake in the Kolkata Knight Riders team.

Even the international media is showing keen interest in the drama being played out in the richest cricket body in the world. In a detailed report, The Guardian, London says Modi's days as the IPL commissioner are numbered.

The Trinidad Express presents the Modi debacle with an interesting headline: Volcanoes and funny money.

In another piece in The Guardian, the author calls Modi the equivalent of the late Juan Antonio Samaranch, the former International Olympic Committee chief, who passed away on Wednesday.
