126Runs scored by Shikhar Dhawan between lunch and tea -- from 64* to 190 -- second most by an Indian in a session after Virender Sehwag's 133 (between tea and close on day two) vs Sri Lanka at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai in 2009-2010.

4Dhawan is fourth in the list of Indian batsmen scoring most runs on the opening day of a Test after Virender Sehwag's 228 (vs Pak, Multan, 2003-2004) and 195 (vs Australia, Melbourne, 2003-2004) and Wasim Jaffer's 192 (vs Pakistan, Kolkata, 2007-2008).

110 Number of balls Dhawan took to score his hundred.
Only Virender Sehwag has scored faster hundreds for India in Sri Lanka.

1 Number of visiting batsmen to have scored hundreds in first two Tests in Sri Lanka before Wednesday -- Australia's Damien Martyn.
Dhawan and Pujara increased this count to three!

2 Number of Indian batsmen who have scored a hundred in a session on more than one occasion.
This was the second such instance for Dhawan.
He had scored 106 between lunch and tea against Australia at Mohali in 2012-2013 (on debut).
Dhawan now joins Sehwag who scored a hundred in a session on three occasions.

253 Runs added by Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara -- the highest second-wicket partnership for India against Sri Lanka, bettering 237 between Sehwag and Rahul Dravid at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai in 2009-2010.

399 Runs scored by India -- second most they have ever scored on the opening day of a Test after 417/2 (vs Sri Lanka at Kanpur in 2009-2010).
This is also India's highest total in any day's play outside India.
They had made 375/9 against New Zealand at Wellington in 2008-2009.
This is also the most any side has made in a day's play against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka, beating Australia's 367/7 at the Colombo SSC in 1992.

3 Number of times two Indian players have scored hundreds on the opening day of a series outside India. The details:
