A dominant India posted a mammoth 622/9 declared in the first innings before they dismissed both the Sri Lankan openers early to take control on Day 2 of the second Test in Colombo on Friday, August 4.

Cheteshwar Pujara (133) and Ajinkya Rahane (132) hit centuries while Ravindra Jadeja smashed an unbeaten 70 with Ravichandran Ashwin (54) and Wriddhiman Saha (67) contributing with half centuries to lift India to the huge total.

Sri Lanka made a feeble reply to finish day two on 50/2 at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground with Ashwin claiming both wickets.

51 Number of Tests Ravichandran Ashwin took to complete the all-round double of 2,000 runs and 200 wickets.

Only three players -- Ian Botham (42), Kapil Dev (50) and Imran Khan (50) -- accomplished this feat in fewer matches.

7 Number of 600 plus totals made in Test cricket in the last seven months. India have made six of them!

6 Number of batsmen who scored 50 or more in India's innings -- only the second time this has happened for India in an away Test, after the Oval Test against England in 2007.

4 Number of Sri Lankan bowlers to take their first Test wicket as stumped.

Malinda Pushpakumara joined Upul Chandana, Tillakaratne Dilshan and Suraj Randiv in doing so.

3 Number of times 20 or more runs have been put on for all 10 wickets in a team innings in Test cricket.

The only other such instances came for England against Australia at Sydney in 1928 and for the West Indies against England at St John's in 1986.

2 Number of totals higher than India's 622/9 against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka.

India made 707 also at the SSC, Colombo, in 2010, while Bangladesh posted 638 at Galle in 2013.

516 Number of runs conceded by Sri Lankan spinners in the innings -- the second most they have ever conceded after 518 against Pakistan at Lahore in 2009.

622 India's total -- the highest total by any side against Sri Lanka on Sri Lankan soil in the first innings of a Test.

Incidentally, India's 600 at Galle in the first Test was the previous highest such total.
