Sachin Tendulkar must surely be keen to erase memories of the ill-fated England tour as soon as possible.

Not only was India whitewashed 4-0, but Tendulkar failed to cross the three-figure mark, in the four Tests before he was forced to miss the five-match ODI series because of a toe injury.

It is not often that Tendulkar, who is one ton short of completing the landmark of 100 international centuries, comes back empty-handed.

Rajneesh Gupta presents instances when the batting maestro failed to score a century in an overseas tour (minimum three Tests):

1989-90 v Pakistan - 4 Tests, Highest (Hs) - 59

1989-90 v New Zealand - 3 Tests, Hs - 88

1996-97 v West Indies - 5 Tests, Hs - 92

2005-06 v Pakistan - 3 Tests, Hs - 26

2006-07 v South Africa - 3 Tests, Hs - 64

2007 v England - 3 Tests, Hs - 91

2008 v Sri Lanka - 3 Tests, Hs - 31

2011 v England - 4 Tests, Hs - 91
