Broad & Co outshine Tendulkar, VVS

August 16, 2011 16:03 IST

The margin of defeat in each of the three Tests of the ongoing English tour is self-explanatory. While India lost by 196 runs in the opening Test at Lord's, the margin in the second Test (in Trent Bridge) was worse -- 319 runs!

Then, there was Edgbaston. A resounding innings and 242-run pounding not only meant a humiliating series loss for the visitors, but also cost them the No 1 ranking in Test cricket.

On of the main reasons for India's poor showing in the three Tests was the performance of the much-talked about batsmen, like Gautam Gambhir, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman, who together failed to score more than 300 in the six innings played so far.

Rajneesh Gupta presents a comparison of two sides' top and bottom order; and also on some important parameters, in the series.
