The left-handed Warner achieved the milestone in the first session of Day 4 at the Adelaide Oval as Australia consolidated their overall lead.

The batsman was bowled by Karn Sharma after 102, laced with 11 fours and a six.

In the process, the 28-year-old became the fifth batsman to complete Test 1000 runs in 2014.

The other four are Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara (1486 runs), Angelo Mathews (1201), Mahela Jayawardene (1003 runs) and veteran Pakistan batsman Younis Khan, who has 1213 runs.
