Dhoni sets record for most stumpings in Test cricket

Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni broke the world record for most number of stumpings in international cricket after he effected his 134th dismissal on Day 2 of the third cricket Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday.

The 33-year-old Dhoni surpassed Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara when he stumped Mitchell Johnson off the bowling of off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin to enter his name in the record books.

He reached the landmark in his 460th innings while Sangakkara has 133 stumpings from 485 innings.

Sri Lanka' ‘keeper Romesh Kaluwitharana is third on the list with 101 stumpings from 270 innings, while former Indian ‘keeper, Nayan Mongia is 10th on the list with 52 stumpings.

Dhoni has 38 stumpings to his name in Test cricket, while 85 in One-day Internationals and 11 in Twenty20s.

The second-placed Sangakkara has 20 stumpings in Tests, 93 in ODIs and 20 in T20s.
