Imran Nazir's brilliant batting coupled with disciplined bowing by Mushtaq Ahmed helped Lahore Badshahs thrash Delhi Giants by eight wickets in the ICL Twenty20 match in Gurgaon on Sunday night.
Chasing, 105 to win, Badshahs overhauled the target with 31 balls to spare, as Nazir hit an unbeaten 60 off 47-balls.
Imran Farhat (1) was dismissed in the second over by T Sudhindra but Nazir and Humayun Farhat (16) ensured that Giants did not build on the early success.
The duo put on 59 runs together for the second wicket, dashing all hopes of Delhi Giants staging a comeback.
Hasan Raja (not out 20) joined Nazir after the departure of Humayun and both batted with ease to win the match for the Pakistan team.
Earlier, a superb spell of spin bowling by Mushtaq Ahmed (3 for 20) helped Badshahs restrict Delhi Giants to 103 for 7 in 20 overs.
Electing to bat, Delhi Giants got off to a rollicking start with openers Awishka Gunawardne and Munish Mishra scoring 15 runs from the first over.
Azhar Mehmood struck the first blow on Giants when he removed Gunawardne (6), who gave a simple catch to Shahid Nazir at mid-off.
Skipper Atapattu then joined Mishra, who raced to 33 runs off just 31 balls before he was bowled by Mushtaq Ahmed.
Atapattu departed in next over as Shaid Nazir clean bowled him on his individual score of 12 runs.
Abass Ali (7) too departed, bowled in the next over, after failing to read a quick delivery from Mushtaq Ahmed.
Shane Bond (17) played a handy knock down the order to help the team get past 100-run mark.
