There was a huge roar from the crowd as Brian Lara walked out for the toss with Rahul Dravid in the ICC Champions Trophy match at the Sardar Patel Gujarat stadium, Motera, in Ahmedabad, on Thursday.

The West Indies skipper, who was doubtful for the crucial game due to back spasms, won the toss and elected to field.

India went into the match with a four-pronged pace attack, with Rudra Pratap Singh replacing Ramesh Powar.

In the first league match, the South African fast bowlers made a huge impact and led the team to a 78-run win over Sri Lanka.

The West Indies made one change to their team, the experienced Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who missed the last game due to food poisoning, came in for Wavell Hinds.

Teams:

India: Rahul Dravid (captain), Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ajit Agarkar, Irfan Pathan, Munaf Patel, Harbhajan Singh and R P Singh.

West Indies: Brian Lara (captain), Ramnaresh Sarwan, Chris Gayle, Dwayne Smith, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Dwayne Bravo, Marlon Samuels, Carlton Baugh Jr, Ian Bradshaw, Runako Morton and Jerome Taylor.

On field umpires: Aleem Dar (Pakistan), Daryl Harper (Australia)

Third umpire: Simon Taufel (Australia)
