Now that defending champions have eased into the semi-finals of the World Cup, its billion supporters will be hoping arch-rivals Pakistan upset co-hosts Australia in the third quarter-final, to be played in Adelaide on Friday.

That will set the stage for another Indo-Pak showdown, a blessing in disguise for the holders, who enjoy a 6-0 record over Pakistan in the quadrennial event.

That, however, is easier said than done.

For it will take a herculean effort from Pakistan if they are to progress any further in the tournament.

Historically, and on current form, Australia are miles ahead of their opponents.
