ICC Test rankings: No Indian batsmen in top-10

Vijay in 11th spot; Kohli falls five places

Riding on his good showing in the first Test against South Africa, opener Murali Vijay rose eight places to be the best-ranked Indian batsmen at number eleven in the ICC batting rankings released on Tuesday.

Cheteshwar Pujara gained five places following his contribution of 31 and 77 and is two places behind Vijay in 13th spot.

Test skipper Virat Kohli, who had scores of 1 and 29 in the Test, dropped five places to be at 16th position.

South Africa's AB de Villiers displaced Australia's Steven Smith to claim top spot in the rankings.

Vijay made 75 and 47 in the opening Test in Mohali.

A single point separates De Villiers and Smith at the top of the list.

De Villers, who top-scored with a gutsy 63 in the first innings of the opening Test that ended in under three days.

In the bowling list, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is the only Indian among the top-10.

He jumped three places to fifth spot after his impressive match-figures of 8-90 in Mohali.

India's left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja rocketed 10 places to a career-high 21st position following match figures of eight for 76 that also earned him the player of the Mohali Test award.

Meanwhile, South Africa pace spearhead Dale Steyn continues as the number-one ranked bowler in the Test rankings

South African speedster Dale Steyn, who did not bowl in the second innings of the match due to a groin strain, maintained his position at the top.

In the all-rounders’ list Bangaldesh's Shakib Al Hasan retained the top position with Ashwin (2) and Vernon Philander (3) behind him.

In the team rankings, India climbed to the fourth spot, while South Africa remained the top Test side of the world.
