July 12, 2005 11:51 IST

A marathon effort from Harbhajan Singh yielded little results as the off-spinner could bag only two wickets from 49 overs as Surrey drew against Gloucestershire on the final day of the Division One County Championship match in Bristol on Monday.

Harbhajan, who had taken four wickets in Gloucestershire's first innings, failed to repeat his performance finishing with two for 142 from 49 overs.

Gloucestershire, who were enforced the follow-on after making 288 in their first innings in reply to Surrey's 603, tallied 494 in the second essay with Alex Gidman top scoring with 142 and Stephen Adshead making 93.

Harbhajan accounted for Gidman and James Pearson (34). For Surrey, James Ormond was the most successful bowler claiming 4 for 89.

Surrey, who needed 180 to win the match, finished with 84 for 3 in 11 overs before the match was called off.
