Greg Chappell, coach of the Indian cricket team, was so delighted with the thumping Indian win over the world number two Sri Lankans that he did not mind mingling with the motley crowd of bhangra dancers and tried a step or two in their company.

Chappell wore the traditional Punjabi turban and swung to the tune of the bhangra drums at a party thrown by the Punjab Cricket Association after the Indian victory in Mohali one dayer, which India won by eight wickets.

But Chappell refused to face the media for the second consecutive day in the mandatory press conference which was addressed by captain Rahul Dravid and man of the match Irfan Pathan, who celebrated his birthday (October 27) with a four wicket haul.

"The Sri Lankan side is naturally shocked by the defeat. The boys are trying to come to terms with the two defeats in a row.

"We would bounce back into the series. On a normal day Jayasuriya would have been dictating the terms, but that hasn't happened at Mohali. Our openers have not clicked.

"Our batsmen did not give enough runs to our bowlers to defend a decent total," said Sri Lanka coach Tom Moody, who came in for a belated post-match press conference.

A Sri Lankan team official said, an official of the host association had informed them that the press conference had been cancelled and hence they were not able to make it to the press conference on time.

Newsmen who learnt about this were furious, as they had been told that the Sri Lankans did not want to meet the media.
