Indian eves to play New Zealand

April 04, 2005 10:08 IST

India will play New Zealand in the second semi-final of the eighth women's cricket world cup in the town of Potchefstroom, near Pretoria, on Thursday.

India finished with 30 points in the league table, while New Zealand has 29 points.

The first semi-final will be played between Australia and England also at the same venue on Tuesday.

The four semi-finalists were decided after persistent, heavy rain put paid to all the seventh round matches on Sunday.

The washout means that for the second time during the tournament each team will pick up three points for a no result. The opening round of matches was also disrupted by rain.

India was scheduled to play league leaders Australia in round seven.

The organisers have decided that Wednesday and Friday will be set aside as reserve days for each semi-final should rain prevent a result on the scheduled day.

The final will take place at Super Sport Park on April 10
