Dravid signs multi-crore deal

June 06, 2005 14:44 IST

Rahul Dravid has signed up a multi-crore three-year deal with Bank of Baroda and would be the Brand Ambassador of the bank for the above period.

In Dravid's presence the chairman and managing director of the bank, Anil K Khandelwal, on Monday launched the new logo of the bank and said the association with India's reliable middle order batsman synchronised with what BoB stood for.

"Rahul Dravid's exploits in the field are legendary. He symbolises honesty and humility and brings a rare dedication and commitment to his profession. Quite aptly he's referred as 'Mr Dependable'.

"In many ways his personality reflects the bank's approach to business -- hard work, dedication and total commitment," Khandelwal told the gathering which included the 97-year-old bank's staff, customers and the media.

Dravid, who refused to answer questions on cricket, said he was very pleased to be associated with BoB which has given him an opportunity to showcase the bank's qualities of "being a reliable and consistent player over a period of time.

"I am happy to be here on what's a new dawn for the bank. It's within striking distance of a century," he added.

Though the CMD refused to divulge the financial details of the bank's sponsorship deal with Dravid, a source revealed to PTI that it was a multi-crore one.
