South Africa’s bowling coach Allan Donald has admitted his concern that fast bowling in Proteas cricket is lacking in depth.

The legendary international bowler said that South African cricket needed more promising bowlers at domestic level to improve the game, although the national squad arguably has the best fast-bowling attack in international cricket, Sport24 reported.

Allan DonaldAccording to Donald, bowlers would be better prepared for top-level cricket if pitches are more favourable for batsmen.

Donald said that the young Proteas bowlers should be taught how to devise strategies over the dismissal of batsmen at first class and Test level cricket to improve their game.

However the bowling coach named Chris Morris and Beuran Hendricks from the domestic Lions and CapeCobras respectively, as potential future stars.

The second Test between South Africa and Pakistan starts at Newlands on Thursday. The Proteas currently lead the three-match series 1-0.
