England Lions were bundled out for a paltry 155 in the first innings by Central Zone which have taken an overall lead of 138 runs on the second day of the four-day Duleep Trophy cricket match in Vadodara on Monday.
At the close of play at the Motibag Ground, the Central Zone were 23 for two in their second edition. Central Zone had scored 270 runs in their first innings, taking a 115-run crucial lead over the visitors.
Resuming at their overnight score of 238 for 7, the Central Zone added 32 runs in 48 minutes before folding up.
The remaining three wickets were taken by medium pacers Alan Richardson and Graham Onions between them. The visitors had a horrible start with the opener Joe Denly losing his wicket with the team still to open its account.
Left-handers Michael Yardly and Michel Carberry tried to stablise the innings but the former departed soon, caught by Sanjay Bangar off Pankaj Singh with the total at 22 runs.
The third wicket partnership between Carberry and Ed Joyce (24) yielded 44 runs, but the two departed when England Lions' score was 66.
The wickets kept on falling at regular intervals and the visitors were dismissed at 155 with Adit Rasid, dropped by Central captain Mohd Kaif at 1, top scoring with 40.
Medium pacer Pankaj Singh was the most successful bowler claiming four for 35 runs. Left-arm spinner Praveen Gupta (3/32) and medium pacer Sanjib Sanyal (2/7) also played a key role in the collapse of England Lions innings.
