David Richardson, the chief executive of the International Cricket Council, has confirmed that possibilities of including cricket in the summer Olympics are being explored following a positive meeting with officials of the International Olympic Committee.

Richardson said they met IOC president Thomas Bach, adding they were open to the opportunity if it was worthwhile to include cricket in Olympics.

However, the ICC chief admitted that they need to overcome the hurdle of the IOC accepting cricket because there are a lot of other sports that want inclusion in the 2024 Olympics.

Cricket's shortest format, Twenty20, was part of the last two editions of Asian Games in Guangzhou (China 2010) and Incheon (South Korea 2014).
