The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants its Indian counterpart (BCCI) to pay approximately $ 70 million as compensation for not playing two ‘home’ bilateral series.
The PCB, which has completed its consultation process and finalised its compensation claim against the BCCI, is expected to file its claim with the disputes resolution committee of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in a few days.
"Our case is that the BCCI signed an MoU with us in 2014 to play six bilateral series, starting with our home series, which they have not done as yet. Secondly they have avoided playing us in bilateral series since 2008 although they have no issues playing against us in ICC events," PCB chairman Najam Sethi said.
Sethi said that under the MoU, the six bilateral series were to be played between 2015 and 2023 with Pakistan hosting home series at the start.
He pointed out that India claimed it had not got permission from its government to play with Pakistan in bilateral series but had played them in the ICC events.
Mahela, Sanga may be included in SLC high-powered committee
Former captains Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardena in all likelihood will be drafted in the high-powered committee, formed to revive country's cricket, which has been on a downward spiral.
According to sources in the Sri Lankan sports ministry, Sangakkara and Jayawardene may join Aravinda de Silva and corporate honcho Hemaka Amarasuriya in the committee.
The committee will recommend corrective measures to sports minister Dayasiri Jayasekera short and long term measures. There will also be a senior sports ministry official in the committee.
Amarasuriya twice headed politically appointed interim committees to run the cricket administration since the late 1990s.
The move was sequel to a recent meeting of all stakeholders conducted by the ministry to check the disastrous performance of the national team.
Sri Lanka team recently had been whitewashed 0-9 by Virat Kohli-led India with defeats against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh.
India A dismiss New Zealand A for 211 on Day 1
India ‘A’ bowlers continued to torment New Zealand ‘A’ batsmen, dismissing the visitors for a meagre 211 on the first day of the second 'unofficial' Test, in Vijaywada, on Saturday.
India ‘A’ were 33 for 1 at stumps. Although it's a day match as the stadium doesn't have floodlights, pink ball is being used on an experimental basis.
Opting to bat, New Zealand did a shade better than the first 'Test' where they failed to cross the 150 in both innings.
The only significant partnership was the fourth wicket- stand of 82 runs between former KKR left-hander Colin Munro (65) and opener Jeet Raval (48).
In the lower order, keeper-batsman Tim Seifert (44 no) showed some stomach for fight with as many as six batsmen unable to reach double figures.
Pacer Shardul Thakur (3/34) blew away the top-order while leg-spinner Karn Sharma (3/49 in 16.5 overs) and left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem (2/41 in 15 overs) ran through the middle and lower order.
Veteran keeper Parthiv Patel was summoned to play this game after Rishabh Pant was laid low with fever.
